Consider adding 91 Days. The story is intriguing, there's practically no anime cliches and the dub is superb. It's better than Baccano and Baccano was the best on your list.

I'll second this because it's the only Italian mafia based anime that doesn't somehow get in to crazy supernatural shit at all, which is somehow a staple for the genre.

indeed--i would say 100% of them have better dubs

because japanese people are genetically incapable of doing good voice acting, period

but i'm in it for the authenticity, because
1. dubs often contain gratuitous censorship which is bad
2. there are certain puns that only work in japanese that i'd miss out on

Eeeeeeehhhhhhhh, I can definitely agree with you on #2 if the show is heavily based on Japanese Culture (Nichijou for example is nothing but Japanese cultural jokes) but most dubs do a good job on making sure the original intent is there. Even the heavily criticized FUNimation is making sure to use proper suffixes and ditching the "Mr." and "Mrs./Ms." they try to shoehorn in their place (except for Evangelion 3.0 I mean Jesus Fucking Christ).

You know you have a point, Japanese people come off as autistic in their voice acting. I don't know if it's because I don't understand the language at all and how words should sound and all that shit, but the majority of the time it's just weird.

I've played through this game a million times in both English and Japanese, and the English voice acting is just better. The "I don't care" in this scene is so much more badass compared to Japanese where the same line is muttered.

You have some great voice actors in grorious nippon, that sound anything but autistic. Then you have plenty of stammering kawaii sugoi fodder as well.

Knowing the language does help it sound less homogeneous though, it's one of those developed listening things you get with any language really. I'm sure turkish would sound a lot less burping and vomiting if I knew how to speak it.
