Can you demonstrate how different job opportunity is in the U.S. as opposed to Ontario?
Quote from: Ramona on February 22, 2016, 12:58:32 AMYou live in Canada. If you want to be anything other than a mule in the US, you need a degree.Ontario is literally America Jr. so, no. Fairly sure the job climate is the exact same.I'm sure you can find good work in the U.S., too. You just have to not be picky.

None of them were fast food, because I obviously refuse to work in fast food. It just seems like it's down to dumb luck.

I'm in the middle of a class discussing the shitty employment rate of University graduates. Trust me, it isn't great here either.
What kind of places were you applying to? Did you ever consider physical labour jobs like landscaping, construction, etc.?
Then clearly you don't understand the definition of "being a mule"It's fucking simple.mate, there's good jobs and there's shit jobs, don't go around saying there's good jobs for high school grads and then be like "have you tried construction"Tldr stop contradicting yourself
Any entry-level job you can think of that isn't strictly in food. Mostly grocery stores and libraries.
No interest in physical labor.

But really, that doesn't change anything. Construction is fine work. What's wrong with it?Also you're not British, stop using "mate."
Have you gone to any interviews?
Do you know what kind of people they've been giving the jobs to?
Well that's your best bet if you want a job. Can I ask why?
contractors in the US largely aren't interested in employing people who do so, and they also aren't interested in employing anyone who won't work for less than minimum wage.
Unless you're an illegal immigrant or a convicted felon, construction isn't for you in this country.
libraries.
Too dangerous for my liking. I'd like to not die or get horribly injured while working. That would be great.

There are so many illegal immigrants where I live, that it would be completely pointless to pay someone full minimum wage over the counter for a job that doesn't require them to know English. The fucking brown people will do it for next to nothing, and felons are unhirable so they just jump on that shit all the same.
There are loads of safe, physical labour-based jobs out there. I was working in landscaping last summer, laying bricks on a long-ass driveway. There's very little risk there.
There's very little risk in lawn care, too.

Why?"Libraries are nice and quiet."I always looked back and thought that was a funny thing for a little kid to say.

Is it not possible to commute?

The only jobs I've ever been able to take legally are stuff like janitorial stuff in certain institutions, and laborer work in construction jobs. Then again, different province.
yeah i'm pretty much in the same boat as you, Class. I don't really have any passions, and the ones I do I don't want to monetise and ruin my enjoyment of them.Though, I've just decided to say "fuck it" and make a living planting trees or something, whereas I think you're actually planning on going to College/Uni?

I feel like you guys are grossely misunderstanding what Canada's like, lol.

It's a lot of work.
