Cheap alternative to an iPod?

My phone only has 16GB of space, and that isn't enough. But I'm not looking to spend $200+ on an iPod classic to hold all of my music, especially since I don't use iTunes...

Any recommendations? Something more than 64GB would be nice.

Ipods ain't so expensive anymore ya know. You can find some in the 80 dollar range.

Speaking of that, got a story for you. Last year I lost mine. Had no idea where I put it. Which is weird because I always carry mine with me securely.

Long story short a couple weeks ago I found the fucking thing shovelling snow out of my driveway. The headphones still worked and the thing itself still works. Gotta hand it to them, that thing is pretty nifty for handling harsh work environments.

Just get an SD card for your phone.

Frankly they're the best cheap mp3 players.

I wouldn't purchase a dedicated device unless it was apple (because audio quality is just what they do) or a FLAC player.

You can't afford the FLAC Walkman I've been eyeing if apple is beyond your budget.

You can probably pick up an 80 GB iPod classic at Gamestop, people sell them all the time, and while interface isn't that sophisticated, it's the same superior audio quality we've come to expect from all of apple's shiny new thousand dollar toys.

The iPod Classic? Yeah, thing was a beast. My sister was given one during her first year of University, but lost it during frosh. She found it again 4 years later, during her 4th year's frosh, still working and everything. Insane.

I believe Zune formally stopped production earlier this year, but they had been off shelves for a long time.

They were badass music players, the problem was they were kind of an ode to dated interface, in an age where everyone was scrambling to compete with the iPhone.

They have been officially supplanted by Xbox Music and Nokia Lumia.

It's crazy that Apple doesn't sell the iPod Classic anymore. I second Solonoid's post about getting a used one at Gamestop, or even a Zune. You can look on eBay if you're fine with a bit of hassle.

Just back up the files on the one you're using and upgrade it.

My phone comes with a base storage of 8GB, but with card its at 72GB

But yeah definitely go for an iPod Classic over that option if you can find one at Gamestop.

No, my microSD card is the one my service provider gave me so that I have, y'know, a working phone. I'm not sure how they do it in America, but here, the SD card is what gives you service, IIRC.

Just got one and it's tits. The only issue I have is that it displays the file names instead of the track names. I'm sure there is a fix I just haven't found it yet.

It plays hi def music too if you're into that, plus the micro sd supports up to 128GBP.

You have to buy an sd card but the thing only costs $100.

Do you use it with iTunes or just the raw files? Do you buy music or just download it?
