I've had great cats and great dogs in life. I currently own a cat and a dog that are both unbearable because of their behavior. I am going to say a monitor lizard is superior because they can be trained either way.

I've had both. Had dogs growing up with my parents. Adopted a cat from a local shelter last year.

I'm gonna go with dogs just by a little bit. Both are great though, can't go wrong when adopting a pet.
