Which is harder to survive in? Mad Max or Fall Out?

Take these two post apocalyptic scenarios.

Which has a setting that is least conducing to survival?

You might be tempted to say Fall Out just because of the mutant beasts. But take into account the fact of all the technology left around for you to find. In game, you do eventually level up and find stuff that make you a badass.

Then you say, Charlie: it's clearly Mad Max. Sure there's no monsters, but the world's devolved to warlords and no one survives. But, people do. Around every one of those warlords are people who either follow them or are oppressed by them.

In my mind they are equal. But you are different. So, in your humble opinion, which universe would you think is least likely to promote your survival?

If I'm the PC, then obviously Mad Max would be harder.

If I'm an actual person trying to live in the Fallout universe, then Fallout is way harder.

Gameplay and story segregation is a bitch.

Fallout, no doubt.

The lucky ones died during the atomic war.

The Fallout universe is much harder to live in.
Considering that a good number of the vault inhabitants were experimented on, the odds of surviving will only decrease.

Well, we'd have to set some ground rules for starters. In both universes and stories, an average person would die. Equally. If you lack the survival instinct, the aggression, or the skill, in both universes you'd be done for as an average person.

Both story worlds contain environmental hazards. With Mad Max, it's hundreds, if not thousands of miles of utter desolation with literally no resources save for sparse singular pockets. With Fallout, it's largely the same, except sprinkled with more radiation, but less desolation.

Which comes down to the real deciding factor. What you're fighting against.

In Mad Max, it's Human vs Human. It's primal instinct back to ground zero again, which, although difficult and not pretty, when compared to Fallout, which, in certain pockets of civilization can be less primal than Mad Max, you're faced with things like military machines, abominations, and highly advanced weaponry.

I'd think that Fallout takes a slight edge over Mad Max because of the inhuman elements human beings have to go up against. They aren't the top of the food chain, like they still are in Mad Max.

it seems like he's implying you're the actual player character in this scenario, which would make the odds of survival astronomically higher

Fallout.

Between the insane robots left over from the prewar days and the mutant radioactive creatures humanity is sitting pretty low on the totem pole.

Mad Max wasteland is more barren and you're more likely to die from lack of survival skills

Fallout wasteland is literally filled with things mutated to kill you

If I'm not here, I'm doing photography. Or I'm asleep. Or in lockdown. One of those three, anyway.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
Fallout. Basically irradiated Australia.

If the monsters don't violently and horrifically kill you, the raiders will. Or the radiation without constant access to Radaway will shorten your life significantly.

Metro wins the "shittest lifestyle" awards though.

By leaps and bounds

You spend all day, every day, in a train station, growing mushrooms and shovelling pig shit. You do that for 5 years and then you wake up to your whole station being eaten alive by mutants. Or going insane and shooting each other courtesy of homo novus.

No daylight, no luxuries.

Just mushroom vodka and pig shit.

These two contradict that statement.

But yep, the best thing that could happen to you is you were born before the bombs and you died early, or you joined the Russian 300 and lived in a massive government bunker.

Or be the pussies in Polis station who got to bathe in mercury lights... smug bastards.

I saw the new Mad Max movie, and the world was shitty with nothing in it but heat and sand. Fallout has things that want to kill you, but there are also big cities and factions you can join, as well as a shit ton of loot if you choose to become or kill a raider. People carry their shit with them, so killing people would be lucrative. You could do that, become a merc, or grow your tatos to make a living.

Mad Max:

Once the gas runs out there's going to be no modern tech at all due to gas being the power source. With Fallout on the other hand they have other means for power. Speaking of tech unlike Fallout which developed new things after the war, Mad Max on the other hand is still using tech that was made before the nukes. If anything brakes or dies they are not going to be able to replace it.

Fallout has modern civilizations but Mad Max on the other hand has warlord ones. Yes Fallout has dangerous raider groups, but they aren't the main source of your population. Mas Max on the other hand we see raider like groups being the largest and most powerful source of people.

For food and water Fallout has it very easy by a long shot. Even with the water being radiated in Fallout there are still rives that are flowing which can be filtered. Mad Max on the other hand has no flowing water and even the ocean is dry for miles on end. For farming due to Fallout's tech they can have farms anywhere and we see plant life like tress and grass. With Mad Max the world is dead and any farming has to located near a water source and once that is dry the farm would be fucked. For animal life Fallout has a decent amount but Mad Max we see hardly any. There's a pig farm in one movie but for the game we hardly come across anything.

emigrate or degenerate. the choice is yours
I feel like the sheer lack of resources and civilizations in Mad Max would kill you within a couple days.

Yeah there might be more threats in the Fallout world to contend with but there's towns, factions and cities scattered everywhere for you to engage with. I'd rather die at the hands of a Deathclaw with my Paladin bro's than die of thirst/get used as a bloodbag by Warboys.

I never saw Mad Max as a complete fucking depressing wasteland like Fallout is. Everything in Fallout is just shitty and depressing and broken. At least Mad Max has people with decently stable societies and what seems to be a greater potential for survival.

I think you should watch Mad Max before saying that.

Depends upon where in Fallout's America you are.

If you're on the West Coast, you're probably living under the rule of the NCR. You can expect a relatively normal life, or at least an approximation of one, given the genre.

The East Coast apparently hasn't figured out the whole "civilization" thing even though the war ended 200 years ago because BRAVO BETHESDA. You can probably expect to get abducted by aliens as your settlement (the only one in a 50 mile radius, mind you) burns under nuclear hellfire during a deathclaw invasion.

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
Really depends on where you are on Fallout. If you're in a major hub or California circa 2080, you'll be relatively well-off. If you're in DC or some backwards-ass settlement with next-to-no fortifications, you're fucked pretty hard by giant insects, deathclaws, or supermutants who will kidnap and eat you.
