Hello friend. I have summer break and some spare time so is good time to read new book.

You people here read books also, of many different kinds. You can reccomend what I should read? Open to any genre, but really like history and niche topic. However I am not hipster overlord that will condemn mainstream books, LOTR is good for example so to Ulysses. many respect to J.rr Token.

Recently hear that this is supposed to be best sci-fi ever written of all time ever, is it true??

Thank you and book thrread

Moby Dick. Always Moby Dick.

Alternatively, I've been reading James T. Tabor's "Paul and Jesus", which is quite interesting.

Moby Dick is adventure classic, this will be a good idea. I just hope the whale wins because I forget what happens in the end.

My favourite time in history is ancient times of rome. But because I study that for degree; already have dozens of books about it so maybe different time like the crusades would be good. Anything with swords and castles is fun time.

Ah, so you'd probably have heard of or already read anything I'd have read about classical antiquity.

Care for WWII stuff?

WWII is great too, very interesting time. I know nearly everything about Russia side of things but would like know more about N.Africa and Italy, but any reccomendation is welcome. thank

Check out the Rommel Papers. It's a posthumous collection of his memoirs and his campaign notes by his family with additional narration. The Afrika campaign section is interesting

If you like boats looks at Dead Wake: The last crossing of the Lusitania. Really engaging non-fiction narrative.

I had other stuff typed out but my phone decided that it didn't want me to post all that...

Just finished reading David Mitchell's The Bone Clocks and Slade House. Two of the most unique books I've ever read, their characters are extremely well-written and it's supernatural fiction that doesn't jack off to its own magic and lore (i.e., you'll only get snippets of it until later in the books.

I've never read Dune, but I can easily say the best Sci-Fi novels I've ever read were the Culture Series by Iain M. Banks.
