Bodybuilders are all the same. They are usually compensating for something, be that a vapid, empty personality, short height or a small dick.

>inb4 jelly or lazy

I'm not. Extreme muscle definition grosses me the fuck out. I think it turns people into a misshapen turd both on the inside and the outside.

And before you gym rats flip the fuck out on me, I'm talking about shit like this;

God damn. His traps make him look like a skinny dude squeezing out of a muscular body.

There's keeping yourself in shape.

There's keeping yourself in peak shape like a body builder or athlete.

And then there's folks like that guy.

I think most people tend to draw the line at liking peak shape.

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
Really all kinds of extremes are  off-putting here, be it extreme weightlifting or obesity.
Normality is too underrated.

I'll try to make this as simple as I can. There are different kinds of bodybuilders. There are some people trying to naturally gain muscle and become as fit as possible, and then there's the pro bodybuilders who take many supplements and sometimes drugs like HGH, steroids, and insulin to get big. You're thinking about the later.
Now as far those who go to the gym to naturally gain muscle, strength, and general fitness, almost all them won't go to the extremes that the pros do as far as putting a lot of foreign drugs and hormones in their bodies. These guys are your normal guys who are actually stronger and healthier than most people.

That picture looks either photoshopped, or he's had synthol injections. His arms, specifically his biceps, are completely disproportional to the rest of his body. Same with his legs, to be honest. I'm not saying it's impossible that's his legitimate physique, but it doesn't look very real to me. Regardless, people who get into bodybuilding like that really don't care about whether or not they look good in other peoples' eyes. It's a matter of just trying to accomplish an extreme feat of physical effort.

****That's shopped but incoming srs post of knowledge****

Most bodybuilders are just muscular men. The guys you are thinking about are top professional ifbb bodybuilders. Freaks of nature.

The reason they got that big is pretty simple. Although for some it may be, most are not doing it to cover up insecurity or whatever most people think. These guys are literally addicted to building muscle.

Not sure if you're familiar with it but lifting weights/getting big is an extremely fun activity on its own. Getting a pump, seeing a new vein, drinking a preworkout while blasting music, having people look at you, pushing up new heavy weight and feeling exhasuted afterwords is an amazing feeling, it can't be understood unless you've felt it.

When you start lifting you usually have an idea of what you want to look like. Well the more time you spend in there and the bigger you get the more your goal ohysique changes. Suddenly the guy you thought was so swole 2 years ago barely looks like he lifts. You want more and more and if you have the resources and right genetics you end up looking like an ifbb pro

These men don't aim to impress your everyday joe anymore. They couldn't care less about most peoples opinion.

For a funny vid on the topic look up "dom mazetti evolutiom of a gym bro"

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.
yeahhh and that doesnt even make you look tough or intimidating, just silly

but you know what does make you look tough and intimidating?

the strongman kind of body building, you know, real strength

Well, I guess that's me told. I never looked at it that way.

I found lifting to be an extremely tedious/exhausting activity though. I'm weak as fuck and I struggled on the lightest weights at the gym.

Yeah pro bodybuilders look like freaks even in a gym surrounded by regular buff guys, I've only met two in my life and it was overwhelming/kinda scary how big they were. And that's how many start man, takes a while to progress. Here's the video it always makes me lol

Bodybuilders do have real strength. You don't build muscle by just lifting light weights. For hypertrophy you have to constantly up your weight.

Well, it's suppose to be exhausting, but there's really no reason for it to be tedious; assuming you've either borrowed or developed a varied, extensive workout routine. If you've wandered into a gym with no real vision of what you're trying to accomplish, or an understanding of the means to make progress, then it's not going to be an enjoyable activity. There's no shame in starting on the light weights, and no reason to feel embarrassed, we all start from somewhere.

Your love gets me so high
Adding on to what jive and winy have already said, that dude is not your typical bodybuilder and that photo may very well be photoshopped. I started lifting 2 years ago because multiple people convinced me that seeing my improvements would slowly build my confidence, and it did.

Plus, I use the gym as sort of an escape from the rest of the world for a little bit. Just me, a bunch of heavy weights, and my goals. I love pushing my body to the limit every time I walk in there, and honestly it is sort of an addiction now. Hypertrophy does release endorphins into your body, which by itself is a fantastic feeling.
