Batman V Superman or Civil War

I just cannot get hyped for Batman V Superman. Neither the trailer or footage has done much for me and I hated Man of Steel. I feel like worst case scenario, Civil War will only be as good as Age of Ultron (which I still enjoyed) and I thought the trailer looked pretty awesome so Civil War easily for now.

You don't need to establish characters that are already established in our culture. DC's approach to their universe is just as good as Marvel.

I feel like the Avengers movies just aren't serious enough. They joke around a ton and it kind of loses it's gritty feel. Especially in Age of Ultron, because the main villain is just overly sarcastic the whole time.

I'm giving it to Batman v Superman because it won't be half comedy half action.

That's what happens when you got Joss Whedon in the director's chair.

Guy can make a good movie, but the writing can be cheesy as fuck.

I feel Civil War will be limited by the fact that the licenses to some major Marvel franchises are held by other companies; they won't be able to portray a conflict as grand in scale as one involving all the Marvel properties. I don't even read superhero comics, but a civil war involving all the major Marvel superheroes and superhero teams sounds really cool. The movie looks like it just adds a couple characters (Black Panther, Spiderman, and one or two others).

Should be called Captain America: Civil Skirmish

Granted, I'm not saying the movie's gonna be bad, but I think this is when Marvel's really suffering from those lost licenses.

Sure, there was certainly a lot of action, but there was enough dialogue to provide emotional depth and weight to what was occurring, making it much more interesting than transformers and the typical Marvel movie.

(Plus, there's a ton of parallels with MoS and Halo 4 so the story just naturally resonates with me)

Yeah. Honestly I hated MoS, and don't have my hopes up for BvS. However, I will say that given what we've seen, I'm liking Batfleck a lot so far.

BvS has a lot to juggle in the span of one film. It will either be spectacularly good or spectacularly bad. I'm leaning towards the latter but maybe Hack Snyder will pull something out of the bag at the last minute. Who knows.

Civil War will probably play it safe with the tedious repetitive formula they've been stringing along for the past five movies now. It'll hold up as a serviceable action flick no doubt, but I'm not expecting it to break any barriers. The MCU is beginning to run its course with me.

All in all BvS will either be a hit or miss, while Civil War will more than likely be a solid, but not particularly fantastic movie.
