At least Warner Bros. is taking risks which is more than what you can say about Marvel.

Genuinely can't comprehend this argument. DC movies are only risks in the sense that they throw $300 million at a shit script and then go in and fuck them up further in post production.

Tbh I disagree that all marvel films are mindless popcorn flicks, but I don't care enough about the genre to defend it very far. It seems pretty apparent that franchises like Deadpool, GotG, and Captain America have more for the audience than big action setpieces.

Nobody is contesting the fact that these movies make money. In fact, I'd argue that's precisely why they warrant a lot more criticism than normal because other studios are starting to replicate the shared cinematic universe formula in order to catch the crumbs. Quite poorly too, I might add.

It's all well and good to say speak with your wallet, and not with your mouth, and yeah, that's partly true. But if you don't at least try and point out to people that these films only exist to appeal to the lowest common denominator, and original titles should be experienced too, then you're not helping the industry explore new avenues either, and you're just as complacent in the saturation of garden-variety blockbusters in the marketplace.

I don't. People are going to enjoy what they want to enjoy, and that's perfectly fine, even if I personally think their tastes are garbage. I don't expect anyone to suddenly refund their Infinity War tickets because they saw a couple of my shitposts on the internet.

I would however, like to think I can encourage people to broaden their horizons, and that there is more to film than capeshit and RDJ quips.

Some of the early reactions are saying it’s darker and takes risks. This may please some of you. I’m skeptical of these types of reactions but this honestly makes me more excited.

It actually does a somewhat decent job, all things considered. Some characters luke captain america definitely don't get anywhere near as much screentime as they should, but overall I never felt that juggling characters was the worst of the problems the film has.

It took some getting used to, but it's not a huge clusterfuck like I feared.

Movie was great, 9/10.  I wasn't expecting it to be that fucking violent and dark though, so kudos to the Russo brothers.  And on another good note

Thanos isn't treated like other MCU villains where he makes quippy jokes and gets tossed around.  He literally annihilates the fuck out of anyone that gets in his way.  And even with the huge amount of characters and story the Russos had to deal with, they still managed to flesh out Thanos in a meaningful way.  It didn't feel *totally* contrived, but you could understand why he is what he is.

The bit where Spiderman calls Thanos a "giant purple n*****" was a bit much for a kids film.

A lot of build up, a quick ending, and it being pretty dark all add up to a less than happy ending.

The bit where Thanos threatens to kill half the universe and Spider-Man retorts "Including the kikes?" took me a bit off guard tbh.

I think Marvel took a big risk letting Raimi write all of Spider-Man's lines but it turned out for the better IMO.

Kind of an odd line for Spider-Man to say when he arrived to fight Thanos, but I guess it made sense in context.

I can't stop laughing hysterically, where were you when the Russo brothers SAVED ten years of capeshit?!?! Everyone in the audience of my theater who complained/didn't like the ending are a bunch of fucking cinema troglodytes. Jesus Christ THIS is what Star Wars needed and Marvel of all studios are the ones that delivered.

I take back everything negative I said about Infinity War before I saw the film. That was an absolute masterpiece and it's still blowing my mind. Anyone who didn't like the movie, or even more so, the ending, can get the fuck out cause that was truly the greatest thing to come out of Disney's cliched ass in recent years.
