at what point in a marriage do you start calling each other "honey"

like, wouldn't that be awkward the first time?

you're the wife, and you're just sitting there... doing what wives do, and all of a sudden, your husband comes in, and for the first time, he's like, "how are you doing, honey?"

i can only imagine being like, "did you just call me 'honey'?"

or maybe for some couples, it's an agreed-upon thing, like
"do you think we can start calling each other 'honey' now, or would that be weird?"

...these are the questions i ask myself

On topic. I'd assume the sweet talking happens first once you get comfortable with each other. Then you get married and the sweet talking stays. Dunno if "honey" is a word I'd ever apply to someone though.

It's a mix of variations of her name, Ginger, and inside jokes that have developed. My name is Kevin, but she almost always calls me Charlie because of a joke that happened years ago. She's Chinese, so I often call her 'Asian', or something else like that. Relationships are weird, Verb.

My parents have been married for 8 years and they just call each other by their name, albeit the shortened version.
My Step-Dad calls my Mum "duck" sometimes, but that isn't a marriage/relashionship thing.
