Sorry if this has been discussed before, but finally got around to watching this movie and must say it's an amazing movie.

And honestly it actually beate interstellar for me. Where interstellar goes into love and yada yada, this stays on course of its topic.

Reminds me of one of Nolans old movie though and that just felt great. Has anyone watched arrival, and what do you think of it?

Ive been meaning to watch it. I watched Ex Machina last night, thought that was pretty damn good.

ExMachina is really good and tenseness and the feelings of a somewhat horror film can be shown in both, although both are not horror.

It's just that they both are basically movies where you dive into the unknown and there are parts where you don't know what can happen, so in a sense it can be considered to prey on your fears. And the sound for the movie really adds to each emotion.

Yeah, I guess Ex Machina is kind of a psychological thriller.

Would you say Arrival is too?

Kind of is a thriller, though I will say there are many ways you can spoil this movie. Its hard to explain without spoiling because the whole movie needs to be watched with little knowledge of it.

I guess I'll come back to this thread later, once I've watched it.

It's pretty enjoyable to watch, the physicist felt underdeveloped for his role in the plot though. Should have given him some physicsy shit to figure out that the linguist couldn't. That way they would feel more like a team and he would seem less like a glorified presentation assistant.

Villeneuve is one of those directors I avoid because of how much praise they get. He's like the new Nolan. It doesn't help that sci-fi is one of my least favorite genres.

I still need to watch it, I do like the guy behind it all, so I'm only going to assume I'll enjoy it.

I had the chance to go see it in theaters, but I was too busy at the time

It's pretty great. It pulled off the time loopy/love stuff way better than Interstellar did.

You could judge them on their craft instead of reputation but ok

This movie wasn't really sci fi in the traditional sense
It was more of a mystery thriller that used some sci fi elements
