They affect me way more than they should. I don't get why it's supposed to be entertaining to not be able to sleep the night after I watch something...

Anyone else feel the same way?

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
I might catch them on the tv sometimes... but horror movies and games generally just don't draw me in.

I don't. Not because they scare me--but because of how they affect my psyche afterwards. I start getting paranoid and seeing shit everywhere.

I also just don't get the whole I'm-going-to-intentionally-give-myself-negative-stimuli thing.

There are some legitimately good horror flicks, though. Like, poignant and genuinely beautiful, like the Babadook.

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.
I dont because horror movies are bad.

I watch stuff like Alien, but that's about it. Never cared for jumpscare films. Same for games, too. Stuff like fnaf, slender and the SCP games freak me out way more than they should do.

Long live NoNolesNeckin.

Ya fuckin' ganderneck.
Horror doesn't really phase me all that much. I suppose only the masterpieces of the genre really provoke any significant sort of reaction from me. On top of that it's not really my favorite genre either.

I watch a lot with the intention of getting spooked.

Always finish the movie disappointed. They're not even remotely entertaining.

I've concluded that horror movies as a genre are objectively shit.

If you disagree, please recommend.

Not a big fan. I'll watch them with friends for the thrill, but by myself? Call me a pussy, but some of those types of movies legitimately freak me out, and I start feeling worried about irrational things. Others are gross and scary at the same time (That Evil Dead remake a few years ago), and leave me feeling uneasy.

The Babadook

intending to get spooked is a bad reason to watch any movie
you watch movies because they're good movies, and the babadook is a good movie

See you Cowgirl,
Someday, somewhere
I think horror films have gotten a shitty rep by stupid films like Paranormal Activity.

Some great ones I can think off the top of my head are Alien and The Shining

I've not seen Shining, though I do intend to one day. But Alien and Predator are both great film series. That kind of horror I can enjoy. Just not modern shitty jumpscare horror.

Ye The Shining relies on a lot of psychologically disturbing stuff. It's not really scary, just disturbing at the very core. It's one of my favorite movies.

It's kind of funny though. Because whenever I think of that film I can't help but think of the simpsons parody and then it turns more funny than serious.

Let the Right One In
Halloween
The Thing
Alien
In the Mouth of Madness
Evil Dead 1, 2 and Army of Darkness (last one isn't much of a horror movie though)
Fright Night
The Babadook
It Follows
The Shining
Re-Animator
From Beyond
the original Night of the Living Dead
Suspiria
the Conjuring
Hellraiser
A Nightmare on Elm Street
They Live (kinda not really horror though IMO)
Videodrome
Vampyr
i never knew you had such quality taste in horror films

OT horror is one of my favorite genres, simply because of how some of the best ones are so masterful at being quality and psychologically disturbing. I also really enjoy watching them with friends (or with a girl) and seeing their reactions

I'll watch an occasional scary movie, but jump scares and gross-outs aren't my thing.

That said, stuff like Final Destination, Evil Dead, Alien, or Cabin in the Woods is fine with me.

cabin in the woods is a great movie, but it's more satire than anything

But see, what I'm saying is, this is not what horror movies are about. Most aren't scary, and most horror fans do not watch them just to be scared.

Evil Dead 2 is a comedy. You don't watch it to be scared.
Well that's fine but I also left out the detail that I generally don't watch a lot of movies anyway.
Only ones I really find interesting or if friends or family want to go with me.

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
Not a fan of scaring myself either. Thrillers are where it's at.
