And it's the most common in England and the US.

Except for in Scotland where it means "Great, Tall"

Also, my surname is from my papa who is scottish so I think that's where it's from.

But if we are concerned about last names I have a paper back home saying that a long ass time ago someone who shared the same last name as me was a king, so good for him I guess.

What region is it from?

I think my Norwegian half has been living around Asker for the past few centuries. Don't know too much about my German ancestors before they came to America in the 1800's, but I think the one Irishman in my ancestry came from Ulster before coming to America.

Mine is of Germanic/Spanish origin from my dad's side. The spanish part is plainly obvious but having something to do with Germanic is pretty cool.
