People wanna be around someone having a good time, not somebody drinking alone.

my only friend is practically married and lives two hours away with his girlfriend. Neither of us want to put in he effort to meet one another.

I go to movies by myself all the time, its not an event that requires you to socialize, like going to a bar or party.

You only need someone else if you're:
A) Trying meet new people.
B) Trying to get laid.
