Do you shrink wrap books as a usual thing or is that just for shrink books?

I had two delivered today from the states, both in shrink-wrap which I found kinda amusing given that the books are on psychotherapy.

Is it normal to do this or is the dispatcher just having a giggle?

It's shrink wrapped to keep it clean while traveling. Maybe it's different in the UK because packages don't have to travel as long distances compared to the U.S
