But that's false because it wasn't even signed until August 2nd. We legally separated from Great Britain on the second of July. We didn't even celebrate independence day until the 1800's because nobody cared and it wasn't until the federalists started their propaganda campaign about "July 4th" that we started to actually celebrate it.
