And I mean, Deadpool is IN a shared universe whether you want to admit it or not.

Eliab, it's about the studios and actors taking it too seriously.

Yes, comic movies are great. I love all of them. But too many (typified in the Dark Night Rises) take themselves way too seriously. They're based on comics, and are supposed to be fun.

The second Thor movie was a dumb waste of time.

But was it a bad movie for it? Personally, I found that movie to be surprisingly emotional at times, and Hiddleston's performance was just perfect. Loki had never been so likable or... relatable. And like most of Marvel's movies, the humour was done well enough.

I found it better than the first, at least.

Okay, great, but what does that really achieve? I don't really see a problem with "taking yourself too seriously" if it's done right, which, for the most part, it is.

Okay, so you have one "comic book movie" that takes itself too seriously. Care to name a few more? Because I don't find Nolan's shitty take on the character to be the best example of "seriousness ruining the genre" or whatever it is you're trying to convey.

In fact, I'd be perfectly happy if CBMs started taking themselves MORE seriously. I found TWS to be the best example of this. And even if you found that movie too "over-the-top" in the seriousness department, guess what they followed it up with? Guardians of the Galaxy, a far better parody of the superhero film genre.

The difference being, "every comic movie out" usually aren't completely trash in their execution. Say what you will about capeshit, but The Winter Solider? Guardians of the Galaxy? Quality movies. We haven't had a truly bad comic book movie since... Iron Man 3?
Fan4stic?

Does that even count? I didn't even know that movie was out when it was.

But yeah, okay. That's two.

Your opinions are different than mine and I don't like that.

Fucking Bob from Hydra was in the movie.

The Man of Steel. Iron Man 2 & 3, Age of Ultron, The Amazing Spiderman 1 & 2, The Nolanverse Batman movies, The Winter Soldier.

Those are just some. Yes, GotG was fun, but it still took itself too seriously. Comic movies aren't presented as comic book movies. They are presented as serious films. Are many of them good? Of course. It just seems that the filmmakers and actors have forgotten that they can be fun too. Given the vast amounts of money in it, it's understandable why they act this way. When revenues hit billions, it is a serious business. But it doesn't have to be.
