The other thread is old so fuck it I'm posting this one.

I just rewatched battle of the bastard with somebody who hadn't seen it yet, and noticed a ton more little details with the battle scene. A particularly cool one to me is all throughout the battle you see Mormont men (can tell their sheild/armor) just going fucking ham behind Jon. Also in the showdown with Ramsey it's a Mormont sheild that he picks up and catches the arrows with (meaning at least one mormont made it all the way into the keep)

Just a cool detail I didn't notice the first time

Jon Snow is in some seriously ass-kicking battles

Grey Wind fought alongside Robb in battles so it's not out of the question.

But yeah the shield wall thing would have had it trampled underfoot.

Well we never saw any of his battles.

I'm willing to bet battles with a significantly larger force and significantly larger amounts of cavalry would be pretty hectic too.
