Appears that the father/older guy is an apocalypse prepper and lives in his bunker with his kids(?), ruling with an iron fist. Then I guess the events of Cloverfield happened, the girl got stir crazy and tried to leave.

I hope that isn't the sole premise of the movie, movies set in only a few scenes needs really good acting and/or lots of actors, and I can't say for sure they have either yet. Or, it's a good trailer that is keeping everything under wraps, like trailers should.

Well, apparently this trailer's been in the dark for a while. So, here's hoping it's a good trailer that doesn't spoil the movie.

If it's a sequel to Cloverfield then one of the possibilities I can think of right off the go is the fact that the monster had parasites on it, which fell off of it and proceeded to spread all over the city almost completely unchecked.

Even if the military eventually killed the big critter those small parasitic ones might have caused some serious clean up issues and long term problems like the plague they carried.

The fact that a guy would keep hold of a camera and continuously film everything during a disaster ruins suspension from the get go.

And the fact that a camcorder battery would last several days.

And he somehow managed to get hold of a camera with filming quality that rivals a film production crew.

Really, the whole premise of a found footage film is pretty retarded.

If we're talking about crap like Cloverfield, yes. But if it's a premise more like The Blair Witch Project, it works much better. There's no real active disaster happening to kill the feeling of some moron standing there with a camera. ALTHOUGH I can see it more feasible now because people loooooove to film shit they see with their cell phones a lot more rather than help in crisis moments.

It's a spin off
Not a direct sequel

The premise is that woman woke up in that bunker along with two other survivors
Outside is apparently a chemical deathzone so they have to stay inside
Things deteriorate and the woman decides to run out

Now there is speculation on the budget
Some sources say it's only 5 mil
Others say it's 1OO mil

Also some say that it's going to be in the bunker the whole movie and it'll be focused on the humans
Which would make sense if there is a 5 million dollar budget

And it doesn't appear to be a found footage movie this time

Quite frankly I'm really fucking surprised it's been filmed, has a poster and trailer, and no one knows about this
People have been buzzing for a Cloverfield sequel for years

I'm actually hoping this to be the most viable theory.

I was reading into the production of the original movie and the one thing that the film makers wanted to emphasise was the fact that the parasites were more dangerous than the actual monster, what with how quickly they can spread their disease.

That coupled with the radioactive fallout from the A-bomb at the end of the movie could make a pretty interesting post Cloverfield setting.

InB4 A-bomb fallout cell damage and mutations coupled with the plague and the parasites makes freaky infested/mutated people.

It's not a sequel. Abrams came out and said that it's a "Blood Relative" of Cloverfield, but not set in that story. I expect that it's going to have the same feel as Cloverfield in that it's about people and their relationships in the face of something inexplicable and monstrous.

I bet that the "chemical attack" the survivors talked about was just their explanation for what really happened, and it's somethings much, much stranger.

Looks good, I liked the premise/setting for cloverfield but the film was unwatchable because of the camera spasms.

So one set in the same universe but with nice fixed position cameras, yes please.
