that movie was 2 fucking hours of buildup to a 5 minute fight and then doomsday takes over.

Though we knew the whole plot before the movie even came out, at least we didn't know the full ending too.

To be fair, the Nolanverse Batman wasn't really a "reboot"--it was always its own separate thing.

I don't even consider those movies to be "superhero" movies, necessarily. The Dark Knight, to me, transcended a lot of what superhero movies tend to stand for. It was an actual movie--not just a popcorn entertainment flick featuring a bunch of guys dancing around in suits. The themes expressed in those movies were much deeper and more palpable than any other superhero film, even to this day.

I know a lot of people will cringe at me using the word "deep" to describe TDK, but... have you seen the movie? There's some heavy fucking shit in there--I don't care what anyone says. Look beyond the fact that it's about a guy in a bat suit chasing around a nihilistic clown and realize that there's a lot of underlying yet poignant themes being expressed in that movie.

The Dark Knight Rises kinda threw a lot of that out the window, but TDK remains my favorite superhero movie ever, so I guess I'm still biased. I still wouldn't consider that series a reboot, though. Just a reimagining, in the best possible way.
