"Outside dog"

What's even the point? Just security or some shit? If you're going to hate dogs enough where you think it's gross or whatever for them to be in your home or on your furniture, why even get one?

Even worse are the people who make them stay outside in like 30 degree weather

There's a couple that lives near me who has a dog that stays outside nearly everyday and is locked inside a cage for 99% of it's life. You never see the thing outside it unless it's winter and you never see the owners walking it. They just have a dog to have one and it's severely neglected contact wise.

I may avoid my cat indoors because he's been causing some allergic reactions lately, but I would never have him outside and I would let a dog be just as welcome inside.

I would never have an outside dog. I do however have an outdoor cat bescause whenever he comes inside he begs for out within like an hour. He gets in fights with cats possums and raccoons like every night. I swear he only comes home to get baths and to show off how he killed stuff.

many cultures don't view dogs as members of the family like most American families do. For example when I visited my family in Italy a few years back they owned a couple dogs, but the animals were all kept outside on either a chain or in a fenced area, and their purpose was to watch and guard the area. they didn't view them as pets but as assets.

why not buy a fucking alarm system or a camera or something. Dogs are actually pretty horrible for security

while that would make sense, their way of doing things is deeply rooted in tradition and, as far as I know, hasn't failed them yet. So who am I to judge, ya know?

That's kind of different though -- they're bred and trained to be guard dogs. Most outdoor dogs treated as pets are essentially neglected.
