i see an ad on the right side of the page, and then it started to load the ad separately and expanded itself onto the page. tell me again why ads are so good for us.

If and when we get some kind of acceptable standard for adverts online, as with TV commercials, then I'll consider getting rid of adblock properly.

If an ad on TV is obnoxious, you change the channel then come back after it's over. Same kinda shit applies here, until obnoxious adverts sod off I'm not really inclined to get rid of it.

Case in point, I bought some tea from an online retailer other than amazon

Taking a couple seconds to click the large X in the corner is way better than having to subscribe to read their content. Forbes has some of the worst ads in the industry, though.

I mean it annoys me, but not enough to make me go to great lengths to get around some advertising bot spamming me with pictures of tea.

I don't really do a lot outside of visiting the same few sites in a circuit and deleting cookies would make signing in a pain in the arse
