I don't think the government did it themselves however I speculate that they did know that it was going to happen and didn't want to stop it because that was the excuse they needed to go to war and war = profit.
Well that's what happened in WWII at Pearl Harbor.
Yeah, this is a confirmed fact now, but if you would have brought the idea up 14 years after Pearl Harbor happened, people would call you a conspiracy nut and dismiss your opinion completely.

I'm seeing a parallel...

They could have nuked key military bases but instead attacked cities.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki were key military targets. Military bases aren't just isolated in the middle of nowhere; they have cities built around them.

Would it have not been a more humane idea to destroy the military bases specifically with missiles rather than nuking the shit out of it?

That wasn't the point. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were used to demonstrate what the United States' new wonder weapon was capable of.

Exactly.

Why didn't they use smaller bombs, then? They did. They firebombed Tokyo to ash and it didn't work. The nukes were a display of force necessary to yield a surrender.

Even if the nukes were a necessary evil, there was surely still some anticipation to see what it could do to people.

Let me rephrase that.

The cities weren't destroyed just to test the nukes, the cities were destroyed in order to force Japan to surrender for fear that America had more (which it didn't). And yes, more people would have died if they hadn't been used. It was a strategic decision that destroyed key military targets, they didn't just up and go 'let's bomb some fuckers real quick 'cuz we can'.

But Japan had no allies. Its navy was basically destroyed, its islands were under a naval blockade and as you said, they were already performing intense bombings across cities. Surely a surrender was coming.

Japan's entire philosophy at the time was fighting to the last man. Fuck no, they wouldn't have surrendered.

On the other hand, it's hard to say if they would have surrendered after the first atom bomb fell. They only had three days to consider before Nagasaki happened.

So, did the Japs really have that batshit never giving up morale were they thought Americans were all cannibals?

Because it is my understanding that they were already pretty deep in the shit.

Yeah, I know that they were planning to drop another plutonium implosion bomb if they didn't surrender after Nagasaki.

Yeah, there are so many quotes from politicians saying Japan would've surrendered.

After the Dresden bombings, surely Japan would surrender.
After their allies Germany and Italy surrendered, surely Japan would surrender.
After the U.S. firebombed Tokyo and dozens of other cities, surely Japan was ready to surrender.
After the blockade and defeat of the Japanese navy, then Japan was obviously just about to surrender.
After the warnings of imminent destruction, Japan definitely was right on the brink of surrendering.
After the first nuclear weapon was used against them, Japan was literally days away from surrendering.

After the second nuke was used, it took Japan a week and a half to announce their surrender. Their culture was one that would have willingly died for no reason at all, if the emperor asked. The people begged the emperor to surrender because they feared for his life, not because they didn't want to die themselves.

Japan wanted to surrender. Hirohito was advised multiple times to surrender. The emperor was a delusional fool that refused to admit defeat. Without nukes, it was extremely likely for Japan to surrender before the invasion planned on November 1st.

It was the opposite, actually. Japanese military leadership consistently refused to surrender unconditionally because they wanted Hirohito to remain in power.

And saying that they would have surrendered is all well and good, but they had almost 4 months after being 'defeated' to surrender, and they repeatedly refused. It's not like they were asking to surrender but the U.S. just blew them off.

9/11 conspiracies are some of the dumbest and most easily disproven theories around, but it's the people who believe in them that are headstrong and more akin to a wall in a debate than a person. Also lol wtf is this shit about the nukes in WWII? The gooks got nuked and for a good reason, case closed

I also showed you a video on thermite reactions to compare it to the image. It looks pretty similar. Perhaps thermite charges were placed around key points in the buildings structure?

The "motherfucking plane on fire" as you so eloquently put it could have ignited the thermite.
You posted a fucking still-framed image of sparks coming out of a burning building that had just been hit with an airliner.

WHOA MUST BE THERMITE, BECAUSE THERMITE ALSO SPARKS

Timestamp says 9:52am on the image. The planes hit at 9:03am. This was a good 55 minutes after the planes hit.
Pretty sure long after a plane impact, let alone under an hour, various things can continue to break, bend, spark, and cripple under the stress of the impact and damage. This is a plane we're talking about. A 767, filled with electronics, fuel, and various other flammable substances, crashing into a building filled with wires, things with wires, and mechanical parts. You have zero experience with this type of forensics. It's completely out of your league. It's out of mine, too, but I'm very sure that every materials scientist or chemist would be blowing their load at the sight of these pictures if it was so obviously the work of thermite. I'm pretty sure you're just messing with me, honestly.

I'm not saying that it was thermite, but it looks like it. Did you even watch the video I posted? Thermite burns for a long, long time if it has a lot of metal to eat through.

And yeah, no, I'm not messing with you. So sorry for having a different perspective.
Your perspective is ridiculous, and it's incredibly easy to demonstrate why. You very likely don't "Know a little about thermite reactions" anymore than any other person in this thread. What credentials do you have? Are you a chemist? A materials scientist? And how could you possibly support such a ridiculous idea that nobody else, specifically experts in the fields required to analyze this type of destruction, seems to be a proponent of?

Your supposedly fantastic and convincing video shows a chemical reaction where, big surprise, something burns for an extended period of time. So would a building and the various different materials in it that just got rammed into by a 150-ton fuselage of jet fuel and electronics. Playing "Devil's advocate" doesn't negate that what you're saying is beyond stupid, and you are continuing to defend it.

I don't think the government did it themselves however I speculate that they did know that it was going to happen and didn't want to stop it because that was the excuse they needed to go to war and war = profit.

It didn't happen. 2001 was a reverse leap year, with the skipped day being September 11th. I thought this was common knowledge.
