Woman arrested for being 'Islamophobic' on a bus

Not sure what to think of this.

Sure, she was pretty much being a mega cunt towards an innocent woman who was just minding her own business, but treating this as a racially motivated attack? Not really sure if that holds any truck with me. Not to mention that there has been an announced increase in state sponsored data gathering on 'Islamophobic attacks' as a result of this.

Agreed, but championing it under the banner of 'Islamophobia' and then involving the state to broaden the definition of Islamophobia as a legally punishable crime is where I take caveat with all this.

Exactly. There's a difference between telling the woman to go back to where she came from and telling her your going to "Donkey kick her baby out."

While it clearly is a case of Islamophobia, she was actually arrested for a 'racially aggravated public order offence'. Basically a hate crime. The primary offence is the public disorder though.

Yeah I know why she was arrested mate, and I agree with it.

What I'm worried about are these new 'Islamophobic' laws trying to be introduced by the British government.

My personal opinion is that hate crimes are real, and should be persecuted more severely. To me, what separates a crime and a hate crime is the intent. If I shoot you for say your wallet, just you are the victim. If I shoot you because you're Muslim, my intent is to terrorize the entire Muslim community. The scope of victims is much broader.

Sure, in both cases you are just as dead. But in one just your family is traumatized. The other an entire community is.

And Muslims get extra special victimization points, why?

All communities get them. If a Muslim (or Black, Jew, Mexican, Hare Krishna etc...) attacked a White person because they were white, it is still a hate crime. No one should get special points.

Now, we are discussing this instance, in which a (I'm assuming) white woman threatened a Muslim woman. Had it been reversed, I'm hoping that the Muslim woman would be in that same cell.

If it was reversed, and in the US, she'd likely be questioned in a DHS cell by the NSA. Remember, we did just areest a kid because he made a clock...
