back on.
what exactly is bad about globalism. if everyone is united then efforts to increase the quality of life for all are put on the forfront of things to do, and it's one point to agree/disagree on the general direction the slowly united world is going towards but what if there is a trend in globalization that favors western way of life ( which there already is)

isn't america a textbook example of globalization? the goal of out forfathers in america was a Nobel one if you ask me, if we can unite all peoples together for a common purpose, what is the downside of globalization?

defend your stance.

emigrate or degenerate. the choice is yours
Globalism itself isn't intrinsically bad as long as the rules, customs and laws of the nation state are still respected.

I think this video explains why globalism can't work, and why we should stick to our own kingdoms. All it does is cause suffering for everyone.

Ultimately, none of this matters, anywho, the Earth is irreversibly doomed by now.

Because reality is a zero sum game, one unit of a resource one group has another one clearly does not.

This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a whimper.

why does there need to be a nation though?
Because cultures and ethnicity exists.

Globalism is a good thing, but so are nation-states. Not only does it divide the world up into manageable administrative areas, but we're a long way off from incorporating areas of Africa and the Middle East into the global community--let alone any kind of global federal arrangement--due to all the sectarian conflict and poverty.

Economic growth is a thing.

Alright, show me one year where every single country had economic growth.

but the main longterm goal would be to unify the world right? because it seems like that is where we are going. so we just have to get rid of cultural problems.

Except we know pretty well what causes recessions, and it's not that other countries are growing to the point where another cannot. . . This should be evident from the fact that everywhere today is richer than in 1500.

Given that there are over 200 countries, with varying economic configurations, why the fuck would you expect there to be a year where every single economy has seen aggregate growth. And, why a year? Why not over a decade, or half a century, or a quarter?

Lol, just to humour you Trojan, I looked through the available data from 1961-2015.

1969 was a year in which just five countries had negative growth, with Senegal having the worst at just negative 6pc growth. If the world really is zero sum, how do you explain such a tiny number of countries experiencing negative growth while the rest experience positive growth?

Do me a favor and look at the government of the respective country you live in. Does it have shit qualities? If so, multiply this by roughly 7 billion.

People won't ever be unified, plain and simple. And handing over power to a select governing group? No. It won't ever work and I can say with no doubt that it would be abused, and pulled off terribly.

If I'm not here, I'm doing photography. Or I'm asleep. Or in lockdown. One of those three, anyway.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
Conflicts of interest.

Just look at the EU. What's good for the collective isn't necessarily good for the individual. I'm not personally against it...until it fucks me over.

Unlikely that there'd ever be some sort of Star Trek-type government running the whole Earth through peace and equality, more likely you'd have one country just take over everywhere else and erase previous ideals and culture with their own.

My guess is that it would take some outside threat to unite the whole of humanity under one state. Having to compete with and/or fight against an alien civilization would be a good example.

This is precisely wrong.

Tribalism will be the only thing keeping humanity unified by the time it becomes a spacefaring species.

The concept itself has to be discarded. Otherwise we'll start shooting the second we make first contact.

Ladies and gentlemen, a créme de la créme example of the slippery slope fallacy.

No, we won't. Why? Because aliens aren't human. The concept of tribalism doesn't apply.

Look at nearly EVERY example of fiction we have. If we can't see that we have no tribe, then it's nearly always us vs them.

Where did this very forum come from?

A little game called Halo. Which it the quintessential us vs them story

Science fiction is where we see ourselves in the future and our hopes of how we'll do.

Look into Roddenberry's vision of Star Trek if you doubt the meaning of Sci Fi
