Yeah, but would it actually be better for Europe to return into a rabble of nation states without a central organization focused on the area? I mean, the points you raise make sense, but at the same time, historically speaking, Europe was locked into more violent and direct conflicts of interest, and despite efforts that kind of mentality led to the events of the first world war.

It's not pretty, but what can ensure that the independent European states will be better at maintaining peace, and human development? I am not just talking about Britain here (where I can see why Britain would get the most by quitting the European Union) but what about Italy, Greece, Spain, Romania, Germany, and other state members?

I think a higher degree of involvement from NATO could keep Europe united in matters of defence.

I am not sure, do you really think that NATO would be successful at doing that? If it actually was then the ideas of an unified EU military wouldn't be starting to get more trending as of late, don't you think?

I think it would be capable.

Only, however, if, as Door says, there is a punishment mechanism for those who don't meet the 2pc spending requirement.

Yeah, but it seems like punishments are often interpreted as "throw ALL the sanctions" by the West. I don't see it working due to that very habit that produces nothing but more problems. As if beating a dead horse.

There aren't any reasons why I wouldn't oppose it. I'm not sure if free trade can be done without the EU. If not, I'm willing to pay the price.
