Why do people treat the constitution like a holy scripture?

They're quite selective and just abuse "state's rights" to enforce Christian doctrine as law.

I'm not sure if the matter is about not wanting it to be amended, but rather what the amendment in question entails. Amendments are necessary changes, not something you tack on for publicity or pseudo-progressiveness.

People in government, and here, seem to view it as an absolute rule that must be followed by the book and cannot be changed

there is a reason our founding fathers kept some stuff ambiguous and allowed for it to be changed to match the times

America is not a perfect union--don't treat it as one. Its Constitution is fallible. That's all she's saying.

Wut? Do you mean like not willing to add any more or that we don't accept amendments beyond the Bill of Rights?

Weird wording. If it's the latter, we don't? A new amendment just hasn't been needed since the 26th one. Gay marriage may be the next one if it continues to be an issue like it was this year.
