It's not like we can do anything useful in the long run anyways. Humans are gonna nuke themselves soon enough and we're all gonna be dead. I can't see humanity reaching the point of intergalactic space travel.

There's some hardwired biological imperative in there. A sprinkle of reasons for the self on top.

But please. Don't go saying silly things like "we're all gonna die because nukes." You don't give enough credit to how durable and adaptable people are. Or the fact that the fallout of most atomic bombs doesn't stick around for eternity.

Most importantly, I don't ever see intergalactice travel being a thing. I don't even see travel beyond our system as being a thing. The distance is too great.

Besides. We don't need to travel. Our entire system has it all right here.

We're not gonna nuke each other, but you're right about one thing--we're not going to accomplish anything meaningful in the long run, which is the part of the basis of my philosophy. As long as we're here and conscious, though, I don't see a point in making shit worse for ourselves by, as Winy put it, "giving up"--which is a loaded term that I don't like, but whatever.

Intergalactic travel will not be a thing. Maybe small scale to the magellanic clouds and the other dwarfs orbiting MW, but the only time we'll be seeing andromeda is when andromeda knocks on our door in about 4 billion years

I mean, sol will be a red giant and Earth's water would have boiled anyway so if we didn't go interstellar by then, bye-bye 'manity.

Because not giving a shit about life typically leads to a miserable existence. Being miserable sucks, so people give a shit to prevent that, at least for themselves and sometimes for those close to them.
