Deep down I just want to be able to exist in a state of contentment, which is something I've been chasing for a long time.

Ultimately, though, duty keeps me going. But it's a heavy burden.

You misunderstand me. Note that I only capitalized the word god once.

We can't become Him, and we can't become gods ourselves. But we can seek union with his energies, and become closer to Him, while retaining and fulfilling our individuality. Unity in Diversity.

Too religious for my taste.
I don't do beliefs, but that does sound reasonable, I'll give you that.

Also, you forgot to capitalise "his"

Well, dying sounds painful and not something I need in my life. Comfort is needed to extend my life and not make it a slog, and to get heat, food, and odd free time I need to do well to get a good job and have decent pay to afford a decent life by my standards.

But it's hard to enjoy on your own, so I surround myself with friends and maintain a positive outlook on things, because nobody likes permanently grumpy bastards.
