Solely on the fact that the GOP is even more fractured than it was back in 2012 - Romney would be able to unite similar sects of the party once again, but the groups that the party needs support from for a win still wouldn't support a Romney campaign.

Unless Romney wants another bruising and blemish on his overall career and legacy, he's going to sit out unless he gets pre-noted support from the dissenting groups - as Ryan did for the Speaker role.

Romney honestly might have benefited more than any of these guys had he joined in. I just wish he could stick to what he actually believes in instead of pandering to his base.
