Context. The question was "What's your stance on nuclear power?"

The fearmongering/scientific illiteracy is real. Glad I never went with her, she sounds mentally challenged.

Discuss.

So, would anyone actually like to tackle her points?

Nuclear energy is dirty, dangerous and expensive and should be ruled out for all those reasons. Fukoshima is the poster child of the nuclear power industry. You can put it in someone else's back yard or on the other side of the world but we are all endangered by it.

And we don't need it! Renewable are the least expensive. Nuclear is the most expensive. It only survives because our government is in bed with the industry and campaign contributions by the loan guarantees that the industry cannot operate without. The continued existence of this lethal form of energy is a tribute to the corruption of our political system. Clean up our energy. Clean up our politics. Join the Green movement.

I mean, people are always talking about how a disaster couldn't happen, but... Fukushima happened.

I can't talk for how dangerous it is, other than other forms of power generation tend to be way, way more dangerous (Coal in particular actually causes a lot of deaths). It's actually pretty clean, aside from the waste it produces, and even then it's still far less than things like coal or oil just because of how energy dense something like Uranium is. And Nuclear is also cheaper than quite a few forms of renewable energy, solar energy in particular tends to be very expensive (Although it's become a lot cheaper recently)

They're only more expensive due to them being newer along with a bunch of political reasons.

Yeah, I would assume so

Fukoshima is the poster child of the nuclear power industry.

It should be, but not for the reason she listed. Japan used shitty safeguards, and after the worst conceivable series of events hit the power plant, only six people died and there were effectively no other long-lasting consequences. Modern (American) plants are far more safe and robust.

On the other hand, when an oil platform makes international news, an entire body of water becomes polluted, millions of animals are killed, and billions of dollars are devoted to fixing it.

This lady is out of her fucking mind. Nuclear is expensive because the government is bought out by oil companies that (understandably) fear nuclear power. Think it gets the same subsidies and incentives coal and oil companies get to operate in our borders? Fuck no.
