Nearly 300 died in Mosul airstrike, making it one of the deadliest attacks on civilians in recent memory
Hahaha I'm just laughing at all the people that thought this was going to result in a war. Especially all the retards on /pol/ with their HABBEDING xDDD threads.Guess what retards, we've already launched tomahawk missiles at Syria in 2014. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/syria-air-strikes-47-tomahawk-cruise-missiles-were-launched-from-two-us-navy-destroyers-9751186.html
How is there still not a war?You can't just launch rockets at a sovereign country as a slap on the wrist.
Quote from: FatherlyNick on April 07, 2017, 07:22:20 AMHow is there still not a war?You can't just launch rockets at a sovereign country as a slap on the wrist. From what I've found so farTrump warned the russians with plenty of notice to give them time to evacuate their personnel, and possibly warn the syrians to GTFO.The strike fucked up the airbase, totalled a bunch of planes and seems to have killed a handful of soldiers stationed there (4 is the most consistent number I've seen). Not all that heavy considering the number of missiles fired at it.Putin is letting his attack doggo do some borking, which is expected of Russia but given what they've said it's nothing along the lines of 'Death to the Imperialist pigs', just posturing.Assad, even if he were to declare war on the USA is in no position to do so when he already has his hands full dealing with billions of moderates. And given the measures taken to reduce loss of life, he doesn't seem all that platinum mad given that his country just got a freedom suppository.Whether or not the chemical weapons were dropped by the planes from that base seems to be beside the point unfortunately, and this might make it harder for OPCW to actually investigate it but who knows. What it has done is show [Chyna] that TEAM AMERICA is not going to be trifled with, especially over WMDs *cough* north korea *cough*I still think the CW attack is horseshit, and that it was more likely the rebels than Assad but it seems that it's a rather moot point given the grand scale of things. No Russians died, the world got a show of force and hopefully little kim is thinking twice about being a stupid cunt in the far east. Habbedings are postponed until another day.

Unless you think US can be this arbiter and flash a red card (fire missiles) when someone doesn't follow the rules.

So, that airbase that Trump aimed to hit as a proportional response? It's still useable, and planes by Assad used it to stage a bombing earlierThis was a waste

Poor tax payers paying for president's toys.
Each Tomahawk missile cost about $832,000 (£667,000).US officials say 59 missiles were fired from the USS Porter and USS Ross warships which were positioned in the Mediterranean Sea.This would have cost the American taxpayer at least $49,088,000 (£39,353,000).

>Assad wins in Aleppo and clears most of Damascus>Assad under extreme heavy attack by islamist rebels and whilst his army is getting pushed back on several fronts, seems to refrain from using CW>Assad reinforces his army, they repel attacks in Damascus and North Hama, they even gain ground on some fronts.>Russia, Iran reach agreement to break ISIS siege on Deir Ezzour among other long term goals>US says they no longer pursue policy to oust Assad>Two days later Assad "decided to use" chemical weapons not only that, but he targets an insignificant town where his troops gain no advantage from on the battlefield.>Syrian gov denies using CW but most pro-regime change leaders already set their minds up despite having zero proof on who did it, even as I write this.>US strikes Syria and now again pursues regime change in Syria, in process of forming a coalition to do just that.Sounds legit

Russian drone footage doesn't show the tower, fuel farm, or radar equipment. It's likely the strike targeted hangars and other infrastructure, and I will continue to seriously doubt the claim that jets are taking off from the airfield until evidence is produced that supports it.
