So why is the US avoiding the real threats to it that are withing?

Gangs and the infrastructure are more of a threat than what the Middle East is to us. Gang related violence and attacks have killed more Americans than what the Middle East has. The infrastructure is either falling apart or is way too outdated. These black outs could be prevented or at least hindered more if the power grid is updated. Our road system is just shit. Apparently there are "thousands of bridges that are vulnerable to collapse". We have a lot of run down neighborhoods. The other thing about fixing the infrastructure is that if you fix up these gang areas and setup programs you would reduce the amount of people that are in gangs. If anything you have these kids joining them because it's the only choice they have to get by. There's no other hope in their lives. So why is this country spending a shit load on the military and on war when there are actual things things that need a high budget that would accomplish more?

Still doesn't change the military has a budget that's high has fuck. Instead of making all these tanks and planes we don't need it should be going to something worthwhile that we do. We need better bridges than a few jets that's not going to be used.

I 100% agree.. if we crumble on the inside, its only a matter of time before we crumble on the outside. The inside of the US is the support and driving force for its external affairs.

Right now our military is large enough and the tech for it is pretty damn advanced. We can go a decent amount of years without upgrading and getting new things. Like you said the inside of the country is important. It doesn't matter how strong your military is when your country is in ruin. No matter how strong your military is that isn't going to change the power grid failing to give out power it's not setup to give.

Maybe once the baby boomer generation along the other oldfarts loose power and the more modern generation takes over we will actually start to be a modern developed country. It's sad that we have the most expensive healthcare in the world but it's shit unless you have this great job with insurance or you're a veteran with the VA shit. I love that I and many other people can't have socialized medicine but our veterans basically have it.
