So about this whole Cincinnati Zoo thing

I think we've all caught wind of it within the last 2 days. If not, just check any news site. They had the Gorilla in their zoo for 17 years I believe.

What are your guys's opinions on how it was handled? Who do you think is to blame?

Obviously for me, I think the blame lies with the neglectful parents who somehow let their kid through the barrier.

It's just a shame it came to that. They planned to set him up for breeding too, so it's sad it all came down to that for such an endangered species.

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
I only caught a small bit on the news yesterday. Why couldn't they tranq the thing instead of calling the Zimmer to simmer down the situation?

Tranq's take 5+ minutes to take effect, and shooting them into an already tense and irritated Gorilla would have probably agitated it more. Could have easily just swung his hand after that and snapped the kids neck.

When he was dragging him through the water, his head almost scraped a nearby grate as well, which would have been an instant death.

The blame lies with the dumbfuck parents and partly with the architects that designed that enclosure. Not much else to discuss really, human stupidity at its prime.

It was the right choice. A human is always more important than an animal.

The parent and child are to blame for this, but they shouldn't be criminally charged for this or anything.

Valid point.
If the gorilla was so valuable tho, why didn't we just let him kill the kid? We've got a billion more of those...

Not really. The difference between two species is astronomical enough to prioririze yours over one that isn't yours. The difference between two ethnicities, not so much.

Parents were irresponsible, charges shouldn't be filed, and shooting the gorilla was the best option.

It's quite a common thing to run into. Human lives will always take precedent over animal ones, regardless of how you feel on the issue.
