What's the point? Are they going to imprison the corpse?
Quote from: challengerX on September 04, 2015, 07:08:42 AMWhat's the point? Are they going to imprison the corpse?People who attempted suicide, historically, were punished. They're not anymore in the first world, but euthanasia, or assisted suicide, is still illegal in most countries. Despite it being the most safe, viable, and humane way to go. That's the issue.Yes, you should absolutely have the right to die.
Why? Is it just a case of being left over laws from a while back that have yet to catch up, then?

If you wanna kill yourself go ahead I don't see why anybody gives a fuck. Shouldn't be an easy process though.
Shouldn't be an easy process though.
It just shouldn't be something where somebody feels sad and can easily go get killed at a hospital. That's fucking stupid.
To clarify I don't care if you want to kill yourself, I do care if it's an easy thing to do. Because suicide will increase big time. That isn't good.
An hero would like a word with you.
Like I said, if you want to kill yourself, that's fine. But it shouldn't be something where you just walk into a hospital and 5 minutes later you're gone.
Quote from: Verbatim on September 04, 2015, 07:49:32 AMIt wouldn't be that simple in 99.99% of all cases. No one kills themselves just because they "feel sad". Pretty much anyone seriously considering suicide is likely to have some kind of mental illness, and they'd probably be referred to a psychiatrist or something first.
Can't say much for rules regarding suicide, but making assisted suicide illegal (or at least, partially) is to do with making sure people aren't coerced by others to commit suicide for their own gain. It's fine if some person with a terminal disease and a sane mind wants help travelling to a place to commit suicide themselves (be it to the "local suicide centre around the corner" or in Switzerland), but it's a bit gray when the reason behind the suicide could be because their carer couldn't be arsed anymore and just wanted it over and done with, which led them down the path of assisted suicide.Several centuries ago (might have been in effect up until recently, don't know myself) in the UK a failed suicide attempt was punishable by hanging... what?!
