Should "Cruel and Unusual Punishment" be considered for Death Row?

Ok, for the purposes of this discussion let's set aside the accuracy of sentencing.

So 100% of those on Death Row are guilty of the crime.

Also, do not factor in race. Remove racial bias in sentencing.

Now that sentencing is isolated, do you take issue with the manner of death, no matter how it's administered, as cruel or unusual?

Where do you draw the line? Is there a line?

Execution should be carried out in the quickest, most humane manner. Not torture, fire, drowning, explosion, etc.

The government is not in the business of retribution, just punishment.

Playing the devil's advocate here, but death by explosion would be pretty quick and painless. Just messy to clean up

I suppose you're not wrong. Seems overkill for a simple execution where a bullet to the head would suffice.

I'm fairly ambivalent on it, if it were to be done then it should be done with the fastest and most humane procedure possible.

Maybe the guillotine, firing squad tends to be detrimental to the executioners over time and the other stuff like injections and the chair are just downright sadistic.

If you want to make it that simple, that black and white, then there simply exist people who have committed such wrong that they should be denied a further existence.

My entire objection to the death penalty is the inefficiency and cost of the process combined with the chance of killing an innocent man when used for anything but the most extreme and undeniable offenders.

The penal system serves to preserve order in society by removing unworkable individuals from causing harm, it doesn't exist to provide sadists and those who enjoy evil acts a safe haven to enact their fantasies.

I support the death penalty but only through painless methods with an effort to make it as unstressful as possible. Something akin to Soylent Green's method would be ideal.

I'm really not okay with family of the victims being present -- or anyone. Not sure if that's a TV thing but it shouldn't exist.

I support the death penalty as long as

1) it's painless and humane
2) it isn't aeen as a punishment, only a means to solve a problem (I.E. serial killer unable to rejoin society)

I would also like to say that rapists and murderers should be killed but those cases are hardly ever cut-and-dry so there needs to be nuance.
