Scientists now say human life (potentially) began in Europe, not Africa

Forgive the meh link, but imgur is easily more enjoyable to read with all this than some article. What are your guys's thoughts on this?

My first thought was it'd just make some crazy neo-nazi's feel more entitled or something. But either way, pretty shocking discovery and claim.

It's quite interesting, because this theory was kicking around a few years ago. From what I vaguely remember scientists couldn't quite figure out the presence/absence of a haplogroup in Africans and Europeans. Loosely along the lines of it wouldn't be possible for europeans to have evolved from Africa because there were certain genetic markers that were absent.

I wish I'd bookmarked the study now, but someone on here (Trojanlord maybe) linked it like 2 years ago.

It's interesting that we have some very convincing evidence now. It's crazy how one discovery can turn solid "facts" on its head. But I guess that's science, right? Always asking the questions and wanting to find the answers.

If it did truly start in Europe, that makes me wonder how migration even happened even more so.

Been saying for years that the migration of homo erectus out of africa doesn't account at all for the existence of neanderthal or denisova DNA strings and thus a few dofferent hominids had to have been originating in different areas of the world and not just Africa and people have been saying I'm irelevent and crazy.

Still crazy, but at least now I'm more correct than they.

neanderthal and denisovan dna in human populations has generally been explain by interbreeding, what's your take on that

Well duh, Cro Magnon and Denisovan sex is exactly how slavs were made.
But where did they come from to have interbred in northern and eastern europe? Probably not africa.
