Because it expands your mind. Otherwise you'd just be a straight up tool.
A large percentage of high schools have some form of economics and personal finance courses that you have the option to take. I personally believe they should be mandatory, and I feel very strongly about that. Anyway, the main purpose of high school is to expose you to a broad range of different disciplines to, hopefully, give you an understanding of the potential courses of education that you'll be capable of taking in college- Where your options really blossom into basically anything you want (With some restrictions). You learn valuable things about your skills, interests, and passions during high school, but you need to be exposed to a lot in order for that to happen. Inevitably, you won't come to use all of what you learn, but it's a valuable process.

They gave as guidance on resume building and job searching in my senior year. We had good teachers too though, like the ones who actually give a damn about you. What grade you in breh?
Like how to pay taxes, getting a job, buying a home, why am I not learning these skills?and my parents are teaching me how to work in the Stock Market with buying and selling stocks, how to start a business, so on so forth. Why can't school explain to me how to make a good resume?

Why are the rest of you people's schools so fucking retarded?

Hell, my parents told me to pick out two stocks, watch them and chart the counts, and note all the news that could effect the stocks. Then I can see when the best time to sell/buy and do it at those times. Which then they'll buy them and sell them. Now THAT'S how you do it! Well...the teachers wouldn't buy the stock, but you can have your students watch some.

You're not going to retain any of it because you'll go at least a couple more years without even needing it, especially if you go to college. Barring that there are guides for basically anything you could ever do; and honestly, unless you're getting a 1040EZ or other simple statement you really should be using a professional for taxes, especially when you own multiple properties or fucked up your itemization throughout the year.

Why don't you stop being a little bitch and teach yourself?

But yeah, basically the answer is that some things aren't optimal to be learned in an academic environment and most of your classes will help expand your mind a bit. If you sit through the majority of your classes thinking "this is pointless", then you're going to hate college and Computer Engineering might not be for you.
