I really am split on them; I'm not entirely sure what to think. What's your impression of them?

They have been so restricted by law that I would call them Private Military Advisors

Easy way to boost numbers, like an auxiliary, but they should be held to the same standards and RoE as the sending nation.

In the role of private security for foreign nationals and trainers for other militaries, sure. But I think they should be a branch of the government, not independent firms. It's extremely disturbing that former SO-types are out there fighting wars in Africa for the highest bidder. That's not okay, and that's not the purpose of military training. I'd even be down with some clause in the oath of office/enlistment stating that servicemen and women will never use their military training in the service of another country.

On one hand, capitalism should let people be free to use whatever skills one has to make a living, but on the other, holy shit we're talking about taking sides and killing people for a paycheck.

I find it hilarious that private military is okay, but Militias are evil.

I'm fine as long as Kevin Spacey is in charge.
