Over the past month, a few of my Facebook friends have shared articles from some satire sites (e.g. <witscience.org>, <NationalReport.net>, etc.), completely unaware of the reliability of the source and passing the information conveyed as truth and science. Has anyone else noticed this? Are Americans becoming so dumb that they believe anything on the internet?

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
Well, I've seen some folk who take duffleblog articles as legitimate  news...

It's rare that people actually do their homework and cite sources at all.

I'm guilty of this.

Exactly. It's like they think the Onion is legit.

I can totally understand people not realizing that National Report is satirical, though. There's no indicators beyond the off-the-wall stories themselves.

The Onion just sounds like one. Like, who names their news site "the Onion"?

People on social media are idiots and believe everything they see. On twitter, I always see people falling for shit like "Spongebob has been cancelled" and "Starbucks won't sell to the troops" when after a simple google, they could find out the truth. On Facebook, I see people posting articles like "200 ft shark captured" and "Ebola kills 20 kindergartners". It's ludicrous.

If I'm not here, I'm doing photography. Or I'm asleep. Or in lockdown. One of those three, anyway.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
It's better not to say anything as otherwise they'll stop posting funny bullshit.

Oh man. I remember the shitstorm that DB created when they posted an article about the 2012[?] election and how a ton of over-seas military ballots weren't counted. It was hilarious.

My friend posted a fake article saying GTA San Andreas was getting a sequel and he fell for it. Don't blame him, because they made it rather official looking with a comparison of the black guy in next gen graphics
