People who assume they're right in an argument

Do you know anybody like this? I know a girl in my form class, and it pisses me the fuck off to no end. We once got into an argument about the legalisation of drugs and she thought she'd won by dismissing the idea and saying "do you have any idea what a person on cocaine is like?"

Some people are like that, and in college most people act like that. That's why I avoid that kind of arguments. If I get into such an argument then I am aggressive and see how long they last until they either run out of assumptions or information. Often it happens real quick.

I just went and edited the posts which were derailing from the conversation with rape jokes which I didn't really find funny. I mean, I just give up on Serious. Whatever. I was told it was a lost cause, I guess I had to go ahead and try it to figure it out on my own. Bravo.

I am not giving up on Serious as a forum, I think it should exist. I just don't really think it's the kind of thing I'd expect out of Serious. I am not Achronos, I won't move my hands and tell you what to do like a little group of soldiers. I accept the fact that this is a community, and the consensus shapes into what each section is like.

Plus, I didn't really deal any warnings to the people I edited.

Being in a rural welsh school, you get a lot of farmer-boys agreeing with badger culling and are pissed off that it isn't a virtual extinction of them.

And then there's this stupid girl who thinks the soldiers all the way in Afghanistan/Iraq are heroes because they are "defending our country"...I've already said my peace on this.

I was gonna say, most people argue because they think they're right.

My family is pretty homophobic and when I try to discuss it with them, it essentially delves into them ignoring evidence and admitting they don't care what the evidence says. For example, my sister used the unnatural argument so I told her that animals have been documented having gay sex. She doesn't believe me so I show her articles as proof and she's just says "haha well I still don't agree with gays". That kinda arrogance and denial of facts just makes me want to smack a bitch.
