Patenting medicine really shouldn't be a thing.

Think of it less as creating incentive as it is preventing the destruction of incentive. Without patents competition could literally just steal the profits out from under you and you are left with the bill.

maintain that you're different from those people
Sorry, the efficacy of the pharmaceutical industry isn't constrained by your irrational hatred of profits. If it works, who cares? When it doesn't, fix it. Profit is a morally neutral phenomenon.
That should be satisfactory enough.
Because we're cunts.
I don't think they're terribly different. It just seems that way because my ideas would require the system to be flipped over its head (as well as a change in how human beings conduct themselves), and your ideas are... Well, you might call them "realistic" or "feasible." I would call them something else.

Remove money. Problem solved.
There's no reason why it couldn't work.

A system without money could still function on the fact that we do have limited resources. But that's the issue. Nobody would be intelligent or sensible about it.They're not even fucking intelligent or sensible about the current system in place. You honestly think that money has any hinderance on resource consumption? No. It's the opposite.
