you know what actually would have

adequate mental health services
More strict mental background checks is something I would support.

I don't even want to go on B.net or any other forum and see the dozens of "but criminals don't follow laws"
Because they don't.

Stop comparing us to other countries.

You want to ban guns? I can guarantee you it won't have an effect for at least 100 years.

I have my great granpas gun from the early 1910s and it still shoots. I'll be giving my son my guns. You can ban them, but I'm not giving mine up.

I don't think we should 100% ban guns, but mental health and guns are a big problem in the US

I agree. I believe here in NJ has a pretty good system. Pretty thorough background check. Takes about 2-3 months to get a permit and can only buy for the next 30 days after you are issued that permit.

I don't know much about how gun laws work, but I guess what I mean is something like

You have to go to a psychologist or something like that, and you have to get sone sort of form saying you aren't batshit. Then you can buy a gun, wait the days. Then every once in a while you have to go to a psychologist to make sure you still aren't crazy

Ya know what I mean?

it is incredibly easy for psychopaths to get past screening. if a person can function in everyday society and go undetected, that means they realize how to act moderate and normal. so either screening is willing to weed out a ton of false positives, which would upset a lot of people, or it fails to accomplish what it sought out to do.

Eventually, yes it would lead to a gun ban.

You keep placing tighter and tighter restrictions and when they all ultimately fail, they'll just ban guns.

But whatever, It was the Left that stopped us from locking these lunatics up and closed the asylums in the 60's, 70's and 80's. "The mentally insane need rights!" "Don't lock them up!"

emigrate or degenerate. the choice is yours
I feel like it would really aid to the discourse if people stopped conflating gun bans with gun control.

Not necessarily saying I agree with tighter regulations but the pro gun camp really need to stop misrepresenting arguments.

Actually it was Reagan who gutted our mental health institutions because he believed that Psychology was the tool of communists trying to take over the US that caused that.

I must say that I love that we are paying our Congressmen to tweet out prayers, instead of looking for solutions to address the issues.

When will it be enough to even have a discussion about it? How many of these have to happen before we actually stop and say the system should be reviewed?

Yes - prayers after Newtown stopped the next mass shooting, which stopped the next, and so on.

Whether you are trolling or not, beliefs like this are backwards and do not help solve any problems.

God has a plan.

And like I said, congressmen do nothing except vote. Any research they would want done would be completed by outside sources.

Yes - 20+ dead children, a couple dead Marines here and there, some dead university kids

I'm sure.

And like I said, congressmen do nothing except vote. Any research they would want done would be completed by outside sources.

Research that has already been done, time and time again.

Then write your friend Barack and tell him to get on it.

Oh yeah, Theres no God just because some lunatic decided to do the devils bidding and kill some innocent people. Makes sense. God just needed those people up in heaven with him. I'm proud of every one of those brave Christians who stood by their faith even with a gun to their head.

You mean the mean the mental health systems act which was set to revamp our mental health institutions and improve them across the board?

Well at least before Reagan repealed it, cut funding for mental health, and ended the Feds involvement in providing mental healthcare altogether.
