Oregon passes law to regulate vaping

Essentially, no vaping in places where it is illegal to smoke, and people under 18 can't have vaporizers.

Now honestly, I feel this might be going a bit far. Sure I think it's stupid when people that look like they haven't finished high school are walking around walmart blowing vape out of their mouths because they can. But I feel vaping is "different" than smoking a cigarette inside.

For instance, I gag a little and my sense of smell gets a little fucked up if someone is blowing cigarette smoke next to me. When I'm near vaporizers however, I don't get that same feeling and it makes it a more pleasant experience when I chat with smokers who vape, rather than puffing a cig.

I can understand the paranoia behind ecigs, but is there actually evidence that supports the "they give off cancerous chemicals" claim in the article?

People can't get sick from second hand vapor, so this makes no sense. Vapor and smoke are two different things, and even the initial substances being heated are drastically different. The whole point of electronic cigs is to eliminate the threat of second hand smoke and the other personal side effects of combusted smoke. I haven't read anything that said the ecig vapor has carcinogens, but even then there's so many ways the flavor juice stuff is made that it's hard to indefinitely say an ecig's vapor is carcinogenic.
I'll support the age limit, however.

Laws made from knee-jerk reactions to new trends by people that are largely uninformed about the science and practice of vaping and health in general typically aren't good laws. Of course no one cares because vapers are in the minority.

but vaping isn't good for you. it's just less bad than actually smoking. Because it's so new, the effect on people around you is relatively unknown at this point. I'd rather they take this step, then later find out it has zero effect on people around you and repeal the law, instead of doing nothing now.

Not saying they can't, just saying it's unlikely until current incumbants die or run a really shit reelection campaign.
