Pascal's Wager comes to mind. Live as if God exists, because if he does, you get to relax in paradise; if he doesn't, you lived a life of altruism and joy. The only downside is if you're a buffoon that treats a book written thousands of years ago that has suffered from numerous, rough translations as total fact, and you end up dying as a hateful and anxiety stricken nut.
the unappealing thing about Pascal's wager is that it's not actually 50/50, considering that for it to be so, there could only be one religion in the world.  You're not quite betting on weather or not your god exists or not, but weather or not your god would be the one to exist out of 500+ potential deities.

Irrelevant to modern society, with rules and dictation a set in a time when people still thought the sun orbited the earth.

It only hampers modern society and science and should be abolished- at least to an extent in which it can influence politics and science.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
I don't really think that's the point of the concept. It's to live as a good and noble person in such a way that if a god exists, you'd be rewarded. In the same way that the Bible is a book of parables meant to teach people not to waste resources and not be dicks to the less fortunate.

So, maximize your chances of getting into heaven, if there is a heaven? I mean, yeah, that's reasonable. Just, "don't be a dick" is a lot less of a mouthful.

Heaven isn't the end-all-be-all of the expression, it's to (as you said) not be a dick. Just be a good person, and if there happens to be a god, you won't suffer from it.

People have the right to believe whatever they want, but if religious views were justifiable they wouldn't be religious views anymore, and whatever religious views you happen to hold you should be willing to accept that.
