Of course, as we all ought to know, Bernie Sanders is not a socialist. Short of calling for the socialisation of the means of production, and the abolition of private property, he never seems to even mention the working class. Every election cycle in America seems to monotonically focus on how the middle class is doing.

To a Brit, this is fucking insane. I consider myself working class, and all of the politicians talk about the working class, and everybody here is aware that different people fall quite reliably into a certain class.

So, where is the US class system?

It's because our middle class is shrinking, leaving pretty much anyone who isn't ultra-rich as part of the "working class"

I guess it comes down to aspirations of some people. There certainly is one, but god help you if you mention it.

"Working class" to a country that is supposedly the land of opportunity can't exist, everyone has to be above what's considered basic.

Bluntly, we're much more concerned with what local asshole is going to be fucking us, because that's what really affects us the most as opposed to worrying about which faceless federal fuck gets to sit in Washington.
