Unlike many retailers, video game store GameStop will not be open on Thanskgiving to kick off Black Friday sales a day early. CEO Paul Raines confirmed the news today during a post-earnings call."We will be closed on Thanskgiving Day next week in the United States out of respect for our associates and their families," he said. Good on them. I really hope this trend of opening stores as early as 6pm thanksgiving day for Black Friday phases out in a few years...
At the place I work, they are opening at like 5am Thanksgiving day and are staying open for very long hours during that whole weekend. Thankfully I do not work again until Monday.

"The point is to get the sales, because everybody is on a fixed income and we don't have that kind of money to splurge," Alva's husband said. When stores open for Black Friday, Alva and Torres are hoping to get a 50-inch, high-definition TV for $199.
Walmart fucking started Black Friday sales yesterday, and they're lasting for a whole week. AND the store has promised every cash register will be open, so sales associates and backroom people had their hours severely cut so that the Front-End people can get all the 40 hours (Though luckily I'm cashier-trained. I was only supposed to have 25 hours this Saturday-Friday week but managed to nab some cashier hours).Oh, and I work until 10PM on Thanksgiving, so no feasting with my family...again...for the 4th year in a row. Sam Walton would have NEVER allowed this, but his fucktarded greedy children decided money>family.

Most of the small businesses in this town have closed up shop either during the recession or too many Big Corporate companies built around them. This town doesn't have many job opportunities and for now I need Walmart until I move.

I mean obviously its your right to complain if you like, But I just don't see why. If I was that upset about missing thanksgiving with my family (and I would be), I'd request off and if it wasn't granted, I just wouldn't show up.
