American gun culture (and why gun control is. . . Well, bollocks really)

Crime involving guns usually involve guns bought and sold illegally--which is, y'know, already illegal--or take place in areas with a pre-existent and severe criminal culture like Chicago which gun control seldom effects.

As for places like Texas? Well, I'll let you watch the video.

Oh for fuck's sake not this bullshit argument again.

Chicago has gangs that really go after each other. Gangs in Texas rarely beef with each other. I made a huge post like this when Recon posted this bullshit and I really can't be assed to look up all the links and shit and write an essay on this.
Yeah, that's exactly the point I'm making.

Gun crime happens when you have the criminal culture in areas like Chicago, which gun control barely even touches. And then when you lack that culture in areas like Plano, Texas you don't need the gun control in the first place.

It's about the black market and how "aggressive" the gangs are pretty much.
I don't disagree, and I'm not claiming unrestricted access to guns will make everybody polite. I'm just concerned that rhetoric surrounding "assault rifles", or even handguns, will actually drown out the important discussion here.

Whether or not gun control works is highly contentious, with no real consensus. The best literature I've read seems to suggest that ease of access to firearms results in a lower murder rate, but not a lower rate of gun crime as a whole (and sometimes even raising it). Now, it's difficult to say just how to balance or resolve that issue.

The main issue is American culture, but a bullshit right to bear arms and lack of gun control, plus the prevalence of illegal gun ownership and use supplements it greatly. There are nations that allow gun ownership and do it right, but it's mostly down to the culture.

If you think of culture as personality, you might let someone sensible, reasonable and calm use a gun and there'd be no issue. But if you were to arm a illogical, violent and frenzied idiot there would most certainly be a difference

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
The main issue is American culture,
I'm more likened to blame the culture of urban minorities, rather then American culture as a whole. Most of the sport shooters and hunters I know are very respectful in regards to their weapons and understand the significance of proper firearm safety.

Yes, because they respect their equipment and understand it. That's not the average American is it?

"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.

I don't think the average American has a firearm, and I don't think the average firearm owner is a street thug.

I'd reckon it is, Lonepaul.

I think the average American is perfectly willing to use their gun in self-defence, too willing. More often than not the wrong choice is made by perfectly ordinary people and people end up dead-that's the unfortunate reality

Again, the average American does not have a firearm, let alone open carry or have a CCW permit. Even those that have a CCW permit might not follow up and purchase a handgun, and not all that do carry it routinely.

Is it wiser in your opinion to keep questioning whether or not it is right to shoot the attacker until he's already removed your brains from your body?

emigrate or degenerate. the choice is yours
I wouldn't necessarily say gun control is "a load of bollocks." Totally unrestricted unmonitored access to firearms is just as retarded as the arguments the left tend to make.
