Muslims believe the Qur'an to be the literal word of God, given by the angel Gabriel to--the perhaps epileptic--Mohammad while he sat in a cave.

Ignoring the moral and political transgressions committed by the fundamentalists of this religion, to believe it in the first place ought to be some sort of crime against epistemology.

I'd love to see some Muslim apologetic stuff on this. Some of it can be explained away as Muhammad giving orders during a war, but it's hard to see how the rest is okay. There's just so much of it.

You're taking those out of context or misquoting on purpose, Allah looks down on you. Muhammad (pbuh), was being attacked by non-believers, so self defense was justified. You can only read the Qu'ran in Arabic to truly understand it's magnificence. It truly brings us muslims to tears. Everything you say is mistranslation. Allah Akbar.

I was just summarizing the arguments of most muslims I've discussed this with. It essentially revolves around them playing the victim card and rejecting any violent scripture outside of the original arabic qu'ran, which I can't comment on since I never intend to learn Arabic just to criticize a single book.

We talking Crusades? Shit's fucked up, but at least those were mostly unilateral conflicts between nations.

Also, I'm not Catholic and I consider a lot of what they do to be apostasy.
