Particularly in art, and even more particularly in music, it seems that some of the greatest songs, albums, and bands come out of tragedy.
I'm watching the Seattle episode of the Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways show, highlighting most of the early 90's grunge and alt-rock movement. The death of Kurt Cobain not only shook the city, but led to the creation of some really marvelous things.
It seems that misfortune and tragedy are almost a necessity to really create something pure; happy, untroubled people seem to be lacking a depth that people can relate to.
